Belgian Trauma Section

Aim and focus
The Belgian Trauma Section (BTS) aims to bring together surgeons who deal with patients who sustained a severe trauma. As you all know, organization and education in trauma care has been brought to the attention of the general public since the publication of the KCE report in 2016.
We as general surgeons play a crucial role in the care of the severely injured patients with organ lesions that require surgical or non-surgical interventions. Our role is however not always clearly defined and the organization of our trauma care units differ from hospital to hospital.
The Belgian Trauma Society wants to provide a platform where general surgeons can strengthen theier knowledge and expertise within trauma surgery in Belgium, in order to continuously develop the field and to improve and guarantee the quality for the patient.
